Restorative and Implant Dentistry in Charlotte, North Carolina

Charlotte Center for Cosmetic Dentistry is renowned for the incredible, natural-looking dental restorations we create for our patients. We can use a variety of techniques to repair teeth that are worn, damaged, or malformed, creating an unbelievably beautiful smile in the process. The area of restorative dentistry also encompasses implant dentistry. Dental implants are available at our Charlotte, North Carolina practice for guests who are missing one or more of their original teeth. We also offer a range of other treatments that can be used to effectively and beautifully repair a variety of dental problems.

Dental Implants

Although there is a cosmetic dimension to implant dentistry, our Charlotte, North Carolina practice considers dental implants a restorative dentistry treatment. At Charlotte Center for Cosmetic Dentistry, we offer dental implants as a means of restoring both form and function to the mouths of guests who are missing teeth. Dental implants consist of two parts: an anchor and a crown. The titanium anchor is surgically implanted in the jaw, providing a secure and permanent base for the realistic, custom–made dental crown.

For the convenience of our implant dentistry guests, Dr. Patrick Broome and Dr. Robert Lowe have a standing arrangement with an experienced oral and maxillofacial surgeon who performs the surgery to place dental implants at our Charlotte, North Carolina office. Anesthesia is used, usually along with sedation dentistry, to be sure the patient is comfortable during the procedure.

Unlike bridges, dental implants do not rely on adjacent teeth for support, and there is no need to grind down any healthy teeth to keep them in place. Because they fill not only the gap between teeth, but also the empty space in the jaw, dental implants help to prevent the bone loss that can often occur after teeth fall out. Also, dental implants can be taken care of in the same manner as natural teeth. Patients should brush and floss regularly and visit Charlotte Center for Cosmetic Dentistry for checkups.

Dental Crowns

When a tooth has significant wear or damage, but still has a strong and stable root, a porcelain dental crown is a fantastic way to repair the existing damage, prevent further injury, and restore a beautiful, natural appearance. Each crown is specially made to fit a specific tooth and blend in easily with those around it. We can even replace old metal-based crowns with newer, more natural-looking all-porcelain ones.

Bridges

Another option for the replacement of missing teeth is a dental bridge. Using high-quality, natural-looking porcelain, a bridge is custom-crafted to fill the gap caused by a missing tooth with an artificial tooth that is attached on either side to a crown. Like all restorative dentistry procedures, dental bridges are designed to restore strength and functionality, as well as beauty, to your smile. They also provide a less costly and less time-consuming alternative to dental implants.

Tooth-colored Fillings

In the old days, restorative dentistry procedures resulted in a mouthful of metal. Contemporary dentistry, however, allows us to repair almost any tooth damage without the use of any metal at all. Made from durable composite resins, tooth-colored fillings provide all the functional aspects of traditional fillings, yet look and feel just like the enamel of your natural teeth. Also, since the material used to make tooth-colored fillings bonds directly to the tooth, these restorations are very strong and long-lasting.

Inlays and Onlays

Custom-made porcelain inlays and onlays are used much like fillings. They fill in spaces where teeth have become decayed, restoring strength and preventing further damage. Inlays are used in cavities or depressions and onlays are designed to be placed on the surface, restoring damaged cusps. These restorations are made by taking impressions and sending them to a dental lab, where the inlays and onlays are created and then bonded to the teeth during a subsequent office visit.
