No Prep Veneers: DURAthins and Lumineers - Conservative, Safe, Reversible

October 24, 2011 @ 02:45 AM — by pjbroome

When it comes to enhancing the overall appearance of your smile, there are plenty of options in Charlotte cosmetic dentistry that may meet your needs. At our practice, Dr. Patrick Broome will assess your situation and determine what dental care treatment will be best suited to meet your needs. Both cosmetic dentistry and restorative dentistry treatments will be considered to ensure that you smile looks great and remains healthy.

About Porcelain Veneers

Charlotte porcelain veneers are an extremely popular and versatile treatment option that can address various dental problems with great efficiency. These thin shells of a specially made dental ceramic are fixed to the front portions of a patient’s teeth. Patients who have chipped teeth, cracked teeth, severely stained teeth, or slightly misaligned teeth may be helped through the use of porcelain veneers.

The Next Step Forward

Even though porcelain veneers are a major advance in cosmetic dentistry, the technology is continually improving, giving patients and their dentists more options for optimal dental care. Given our commitment to the latest advances in cosmetic dentistry as well as dental sedation and laser dentistry, it should come as no surprise that we are extremely excited by the possibilities afforded by both Lumineers and DURAthins.

About DURAThins and Lumineers

DURAthins and Lumineers are the latest in dental veneer technology. They are made of materials that are sturdier than traditional porcelain veneers, allowing for greater versatility when placing them. Like porcelain veneers, they are quite popular for smile makeover treatments.

What makes DURAthins and Lumineers different?

Since the material that DURAthins and Lumineers are made of is stronger than traditional veneer materials, they are thinner than traditional porcelain veneers. With traditional porcelain veneers, a little bit of tooth material needs to be removed to accommodate the veneer. (This is usually just half a millimeter of tooth material.) With DURAthins and Lumineers, even less tooth material is removed, and in many cases, the DURAthins and Lumineers require absolutely no tooth preparation--they can just be applied directly to the tooth.

Am I a good candidate for DURAthins and Lumineers?

During the consultation process, Dr. Patrick Broome (a skilled cosmetic dentist in Charlotte) will determine how he can best meet your needs for smile enhancement. In many cases, DURAthins and Lumineers will meet a patient’s needs, but traditional porcelain veneers cannot always be ruled out.

Alternatives for Dental Restorations

In addition to DURAthins, Lumineers, and traditional porcelain veneers, a whole host of other cosmetic dentistry and restorative dentistry treatments are available, including dental crowns, teeth whitening, and Invisalign®. Rest assured that there is always a solution for a dental problem and we are here to help find it.
